Ghana and the EU share close political, cultural and economic relations
This year’s theme reflects the intensifying partnership between Ghana and the European Union. The Business Forum embodies the fruitful social, political, and economic cooperation that has developed over the years, and which continues to grow. As an important gathering of government, business actors, sectoral associations, civil society and students from both Ghana and Europe, this event offers a unique platform to dive deep into the different aspects and opportunities available.
Participants will gain invaluable insights into each other's investment landscapes, acquire expertise, and explore new avenues for collaboration. It's an exceptional opportunity to meet with key stakeholders, exchange ideas, and foster confidence and commitment to a stronger and sustainable partnership.
The cooperation between the European Union and Ghana started with the first Lomé Convention in 1975. The two parties have since developed fruitful social, political and economic cooperation, strengthened over the years with successive agreements. A notable outcome of this cooperation is the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) signed in 2016, which has ensured that the EU remains one of Ghana’s main trade and investment partners. To further deepen this trade and investment partnership, Ghana and the EU are currently working towards the launching of negotiations on a new Sustainable Investment Facilitation Agreement (SIFA).
