The Band Kokui Foundation

The Band Kokui (TBK) is a Ghanaian music ensemble comprising multitalented musicians who perform a range of music that they call ‘Afropopera:’ a blend of African, popular and operatic genres. TBK appears as a full band or  as smaller ensembles (duos, trios, quartets). In addition to featuring in several notable events, including state visits by Presidents of Hungary and South Africa, TBK has also thrilled audiences in performances supported by the European Union, the French Embassy and the US Embassy. TBK duo, comprising lead vocalist Kokui Selormey and music director Michael Dodoo, recently appeared with the Harmonious Chorale in a concert of classical and choral repertoire in Paris, France.

TBK’s charitable arm, The Band Kokui Foundation, focuses on Music education outreach in deprived areas in Ghana. Their 'MusicBox' initiative has impacted hundreds of schoolchildren in the Northern and Ashanti regions in Ghana and they hope to expand its reach in the near future.
